IFS FreestyleFollow the instrucions on the right in order to create the snowflake using IFS Freestyle. |
(1) Click to get the first affine transformation in the design area. Then use the scale tool to shrink the transformation a little bit. Its scale factor is 0.500 to start, but it needs to be shrunken to about 0.382. To check the scale factor, click and look at the first or fourth number. They should be the same, and you need to adjust it until they are near 0.382. |
(2) Click to get a second affine transformation. Again, use the scale tool to shrink the affine transformation to a scale factor of about 0.382. Notice this time it will be easier since the second transformation will lie directly over the first one. So, when it looks like you only have one transformation, the scale factor is just about right! Repeat this 3 more times, for a total of 5 affine transformations, all with scale factors of about 0.382. Notice the scale factors DO NOT have to be exactly the same. As long as they are all about 0.382, it will work! |

(3) Use the translation tool to organize the five transformations into a pentagonal formation. |
